Freedom From Food Rules: How Intuitive Eating Can Heal Your Relationship with Food
Let me say this plainly: You are not “good” or “bad” based on what you ate today.
For so many of us, especially women raised in a culture of control and comparison, food has become a battleground. We’ve counted, restricted, earned, and punished our way through meals. We’ve moralized our plates, as if a green smoothie makes us virtuous and a cookie means we’ve failed.
That’s not freedom. That’s a system built to keep us disconnected from our bodies.
This summer, I’m choosing something different. I’m choosing intuitive eating and maybe you will too.
What Is Intuitive Eating?
At its core, intuitive eating is about learning to trust your body again. It’s a practice rooted in listening to your hunger cues, honouring your fullness, rejecting diet culture, and respecting your body at every size.
It doesn’t mean eating without intention; it means eating without shame.
5 Intuitive Eating Reminders That Will Change Everything
You don’t have to earn your food.
You need food because you’re human. Not because you worked out or skipped dessert yesterday.Hunger isn’t an emergency or a failure.
It’s a message. And your body’s way of saying: I trust you to care for me.Fullness feels different every day.
You’re not a robot. Your needs change. Let that be okay.Gentle nutrition > rigid rules.
You can love kale and love cookies. You can prioritize nourishment without restricting joy.Your worth is not on your plate.
You are worthy no matter what you ate today. Or didn’t.
Keep In Mind…
Intuitive eating isn’t a quick fix, it’s a slow return to yourself. You were born knowing how to listen to your body, society just taught us to ignore it and it takes time to re-learn it.
Some days you’ll get it “right,” and some days you’ll hear old thoughts sneak in. But you keep practicing. Because freedom — true, body-trusting, shame-free freedom — is worth it.
If you’ve been waiting for permission to stop fighting your body, this is it.
Eat well. Eat joyfully. Eat free.
